Culture… And We Are Not Talking About Yogurt Here!

Monday, June 21st, 2010

In my last blog post I made mention that I had the pleasure of being in a workshop with Mr. Randy Gage and 25 other professionals.  He shared with us his personal story and then jumped right in and encouraged us to think about the concept of “Duplication”.

I don’t want to tell the whole story again but basically, “Duplication” for some appears to be nothing more than a myth.  However, coming from someone who has 31 years experience in the marketing industry, Mr. Gage would argue otherwise.

So, today I want to move onto Culture.  Culture and Duplication go hand in hand.  Culture deals with setting the tone or setting the pace if you will.  You, as a Leader, need to take charge and create the “Culture” that will benefit your organization, your business so to speak.

How do we do this?  How do we create the culture that we want?  Well, you need to be consistent.  You need to do daily or at least 5 days per week of consistent, results producing activities.

Spending time on social sites like Twitter and Facebook do have their place but in most cases do not produce the results that you want.  It can be very effective as a platform to build relationships but until you get people on the phone or meet them in person then hiding behind the computer will not get you what you want.

Creating culture is all about finding those who are serious and locking arms with them and helping them get what they want…. Helping them get the success that they desire.  Bottom line as Mr. Gage explains, in the network marketing industry, ”we get paid on the successes of those we help”.

It needs to be about “US” for Duplication, that is, work on our skill-set or our Personal and Professional Development.  This will allow us to be better equipped to create a “culture” and to help keep others on track to reach their goals for success.

You don’t want to have to convince people to work.  They either get it or they don’t.  Mr. Gage had another great comment and that was, “Don’t convince minds, capture hearts”.  Easy to accomplish if you create culture from the very beginning with your organization.

If you do not have a culture or a system in place for you personally let alone as part of the business itself then you will simple be going in circles chasing your tail.

My next blog post will further discuss culture and the concept of “Tap Root”

Two things I ask that you do:

One, would be to sit down and take 30 minutes and think about the culture that you are currently creating in your business and does it need to be re-visited?

Secondly, if this resonated with you then comments, feedback and sharing with your network would be greatly appreciated.

Just How Difficult Is Marketing Online?

Just How Difficult Is Marketing Online?

I had a short conversation with an individual who was successful by most people’s standards when it came to being a leader in Marketing (MLM).  He built a sizeable organization with little or no help from an upline but after about 3 years with the company found that people were leaving faster than they were joining.  He said he had no problem ‘recruiting’ people, but he had issue with people not wanting to put in the time and effort with growing and succeeding in Marketing.

This is where today’s lesson begins…….

Contrary to what you may have been told, MLM is not about recruiting as many people as you can and building up a huge moment and hope that a few hundred stick around and pay the industry average $150.00 per month on an autoship.

Marketing is about Education and not only education but keeping abreast of the latest trends.  If you are reading this article on my blog then you are current.  You likely understand the importance of having a blog.  You no longer want to send those who are interested in business to a generic company website.

What you want is for them to learn about you and what you have to offer should they choose to follow you in your present marketing company.   The key element……YOU.

What are your skills?  Have you taken any online courses on topics like Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, Blogging?  All of these topics are vehicles that will help you build long lasting relationships and a healthy organization.

Now Rome wasn’t built in a day and learning this type of information could take months and there are always new techniques evolving and being taught.   Well, if you noticed, 2 of my last 3 blog posts have been on ‘Tribes’.  ‘Tribes’ are the latest craze on the internet and if you are still uncertain what I am speaking about then I want you to read the questions below and take inventory of where you currently find yourself….

What if you could become part of a community that shared the same passion for learning, for developing new skills, for growing, for helping others, etc?

What if for a small fee, in comparison to the weekend course that cost thousands of dollars, you could learn about the latest trends with some of the top leaders in Marketing today?

What if there was a way to get all of this in a well thought out and well structured package that included its very own NING community?

What if?

So I ask you this, would you be willing to pay for several weeks education?  Have full access to the recorded webinars and become surrounded with other individuals that have similar goals and objectives?

Would you not want to work with leaders in other markets, companies, etc where you can learn from them and have access to them anytime you want?

I think it is easy to see the importance of education.  So, if you are interested in taking your business to the next level, send me an email to info@whoisstevehachey.com or look me up on Skype at !stevehachey

I look forward to hearing from you.

More Tribe Talk

In my last blog post I made mention of the latest craze on Twitter, Facebook and the Internet as a whole…….  “TRIBES”.   Today I want to revisit the idea and explain where I am coming from.

I joined the tribe mastermind 1.0 in late December and was immediately welcomed with arms wide open by approximately 25 other like-minded individuals.

We are all in “Marketing” to some degree and all in different companies, with the exception the leaders of this tribal moment who are part of the same company and exploding things like never seen before.  They are using social media (the skills and attributes they have mastered) to build a business.

I quickly discovered that I needed to create a blog post on a weekly basis as everyone belonging to the community was doing the same and we were required to have open minds to learn, share and discuss any and all content.  It was networking in its purest form.  No selling, recruiting, trying to make money off of each other, no comparing of each other’s companies….. just a time to build healthy and long lasting business relationships.

Each and every member that I have worked with thus far has some sort of talent.  One in particular, Kimberly Castleberry, literally saved my blog!  She is…. and I say this in the most respectful way… a computer techy.  She knows computers and I am…. shall we say a little behind the times but learning every day!

There were a series of classes (webinars) that educated everyone on the call no matter whether you were a beginner or an “expert” in your area.  I learned so many new things about Facebook that I never knew before.  Other topics included Twitter, Youtube, Blogging and Content Creation/Syndication just to name a few.

We are very privileged to have six (6) great Leaders who keep us on track and are the brains of the operation but there are so many other great leaders in training just waiting to break out……  Each and everyone who is in the “tribe” is a Leader in many respects.  We are all going to be great leaders with the guidance of the six at the top.

If you would like further information, feel free to contact any of the following individuals:

Kary Rogney

Michael Feil

Nick Logan

Jon Alfredsson

Ken Pickard

Eric Goldstein

They will be hosting a FREE WEBINAR on Thursday, Jan 28th to further discuss and educate us on a series of topics that will help anyone who desires to take their marketing campaign to the next level, no matter where you currently find yourself.

So, I encourage you to click either of the links

The Philosophy Of Plans

Wednesday, December 30th, 2009
A young up and coming professional in the Network Marketing Arena recently
wrote the following note on my Facebook Profile and it was such a powerful
post, that I asked for his permission to post it on my blog.  He agreed and I
encourage you to not only read it but also to follow up by looking for Aaron Seligson
on Facebook or by visiting his blog at Aaron Seligson
Hey My fellow networkers,

I wanted to share some great information on two different
philosophies of plans.

You see, while growing up, many people such as my parents,
teachers, coaches and mates(even America), all had the same philosophy on
plans.

I would always here preaches on how you should have a plan A,
plan B and plan C.

Meaning: Just in case plan A does not workout you have plan B.
Just in case plan B does not workout you have plan C.

My mind also became clustered with things such as, “You know you
should become a Doctor, Lawyer, Accountant, they make the most
money etc…”)

Sounds like a great plan doesn’t it?

Sure it is!

Well I want to share something with my Fellow Empowered
Entrepreneurs.

Take a Look at this Chart below:

Now think about that…

2 Years ago I sat and thought about this, and said to myself,

‘You know something has got to be wrong here. Everyone is
preaching on what to do to become successful and live the
american dream, but everyone is on the same boat.”

And The chart above showed you the exact separation from those
on the boats(95%), and those on the yachts(1-4%).

The Entrepreneurial Philosophy…

Due to being connected and aligned with successful and the most

entrepreneurial minded people in the world, I was driven down a
whole different road.

I locked myself solely in on Plan A to the point where it is
either achieving Plan A or Die!

The difference with this philosophy is you put a laser focus on
what you ultimately want to accomplish, leaving you flat out no
choice but to accomplish it.

Oppose to having multiple focuses, which takes away your
emphasis on your major goal.

There is such great opportunity out there. It is just the matter
of the fact of doing what it takes to seize it.

Since very young, many of us had these aspirations on how we
were going to be something big.

Many of us have went on and accomplished those feats as well as
many let that vision slide away and became comfortable on living
the average life. But hey, “If you want the average, do what
average people do.”

Need I say More?

I wish you all continued success,

Aaron Seligson

Is There Value In A System? It’s All About Education!

Part-Time Versus Full-Time Entrepreneur Part 13

Education, Education, AND More Education

Steve Hachey here and today I want to talk to you about the most efficient way to Educate yourself in the Marketing industry.

This is near and dear to my heart because I am an Educator.  I am in my 11th year and this year is very special because of the fact that I am only Part-Time!  I have finally realized after 10 year of a JOB (just over broke) that I need to live life instead of working it away.

Being an Educator it is imperative that I continue to upgrade and further my Education.  When I jumped into network marketing a few years back I had no idea what I was doing…..much like the 95% +/- of those who are currently in marketing to some degree or another.

I knew that I was onto something but was in the dark and wet behind the ears.  So I began Educating myself on Marketing.  The quickest and most effective way to learn about marketing is without question……. subscribing to a system.

That it is, no ands, ifs or buts! (no sure about the spelling but I don’t care at this point)  I want to drive home the point that yes, reading, audios, seminars are all part of your ingredients to your success but hands down, a SYSTEM is the answer!

The beauty of a system is that it will not only help build your business but will also educate yourself at the exact same time.

I know there are a handful of systems out there, all with their own strengths and weaknesses.  It all depends on what you are looking I guess.

The system I use was created by a young individual who has made it his mission to empower others to reach their full potential with the cutting edge use of technology.

Gone are the days of home meetings, hotel meetings, creating your list of 100 friends and family members…..This system educates you on the power of the internet.  We learn exactly how to market online and how to have people want to partner up and learn from us.

Don’t get me wrong, if you live in a very heavily populated area, then you can probably find enough people to hold a home meeting or a monthly hotel meeting.  Eventually that grows old….

Let’s face it folks…..if you are in sales, either direct, multi-level, affiliate, or any combination you need to learn how to market.  It only stands to reason because the examples I just listed are all in the “Marketing” arena!

So, if you are truly serious about taking things to the next level you will want to do your homework and take a close look at paying a small monthly fee for a system.

You want to look for a proven system, one that has hours of training on all the latest strategies such as social media (facebook, twitter, youtube, etc), forums, article writing, pay per click advertising, blogging, product creation, preloaded data capture pages, just to name a few

If you want further information on one of the most powerful systems, then go to http://www.askstevehachey.com right now, look to the right of the page and sign up for the incredible amount of information that will come up once you opt-in.  You will not be disappointed as I KNOW I will be saving you months of headache and frustration …. smile

Are You A Twit Or A Tweeter?

Part-time Versus Full-time Entrepreneur Part 11

Are You A Twit Or A Tweeter?

Steve Hachey here…..my most recent articles have been written as a means of giving my perspective of how you can use Facebook to create an online presence.  There are so many more topics on that topic but I need to switch my focus to Twitter.

Why you might ask?  Well, here is my story…..

For those who have been living under a rock, Twitter is a social micro blogging site.  You have 140 characters to send a message.  Some will actually carry on a discussion with others, some will post links to videos, articles, blogs, etc.

But most use it to SPAM…. I mean come on.  There are too many educated marketers out there who are beginning to smell spam the minute they read your 140 character message.

For some reason, my account had been suspended until further review.  I DO NOT spam, but I believe I had unfollowed too many who were not adding value to my life.   So I deleted over 600-700 in one day and Twitter didn’t like that.  Once they understood why, they quickly activated my account once again.

So, once my account was refreshed, I think it completely reset everything…….and what is the big deal?  Well, I had over 3400 DM’s or Direct Messages!  Me, being who I am, decided it necessary to start sorting through the messages at the tune of about 100+ per day.  Needless to say it is going to take me some time.

But here is my big beef…..of all the DM’s….all 3400+…..I would say less then 1% to this point actually have any value.  I have come across Mafia invitations, check out this “now blocked site”, come check out this program and make 567K in my first year, blah, blah, blah.

I guess my message is, wise up if you are one of those individuals who are not adding value.  I mean don’t get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with have a little fun but if you are going to plaster everyone’s page with useless information, expect to get little response.

Oh yes, one more thing….my favourite one is get 16,000 followers…..then why do they not have 16,000 followers on their profile if it really works?

Look forward to hearing your thoughts in 140 characters or less…..smile

The Amazing Power Of “NOTES” On Facebook….

Friday, October 9th, 2009

Part-Time Versus Full Time Entrepreneur Part 9

The Amazing Power of “Notes” on Facebook……

In my last 2 articles on the topic of Facebook we looked at status updates and how to build your friends list.  Today I want to talk to you about something so powerful and underused on Facebook…..”notes”

On your profile page at the top you have different tabs such as “wall”, “info”, “photos” and some may have “notes”  If you don’t, you will need to go to your settings to enable it.

Notes in Facebook are like posts in blogs.  It is an article or idea that you want to share with others.

With the “note” function in Facebook, you are able to post your note, use HTML code, add a link or picture and once you post it, you will have it appear on your profile.

Let’s say for example you have 2500+ friends.  When you post your note, there is a potential for 2500+ individuals to see your note.  Of course we know that not everyone will see it but the potential is there.  Now let us introduce the power of “tagging” your friends or associates in your note.

When you go to publish your note, there is the opportunity to “tag” as many people as you want in your note.  What this means is that it will now appear on THEIR wall/profile as well as yours.  Do you see where this is going???

That’s right, if you tag 10 people in your note and they all have 1000 friends, then it will go out to not only the 2500+ friends that you have but also the other 10,000 friends that have been tagged as a result of your 10 friends.

So, if Jack has 1000 friends and he is tagged in your note, then it will appear on his wall and all his friends have the potential to be exposed to it.  Same then goes for Jill, Jane, John, etc, etc, etc.

I think you can see the power in all of this.   But let me caution you…. you only want to “tag” friends or associates that you know, not just a random person.  It is also a good idea to ask them if you can tag them in any and all of your notes as a means of good Facebook etiquette.

Another strategy is to post once or twice a week.  Those who respect you and want to learn from you will look forward to what you have to say as opposed to saying…oh  no, not another note that I am being tagged in!

So, the next time you post a note, be certain that you ask permission of your friends and tag, tag, tag.  It will give you mass exposure not only in Facebook but you never know who might just “tweet” if for you as well!

Until next time……tag….. you’re it!

How To Build Your Friends List On Facebook

Monday, October 5th, 2009

Part-Time Versus Full-Time Entrepreneur Part 8

Social Sites – Facebook Strategies Continued….

In my last article you will recall I mentioned the importance of a great profile and using your status update in a professional, non-spammy way.

Now, onto today’s lesson….Building Your Friends List.

Well, you can start by going to groups where you have similar likes and interests and ask them to be friends or connect with you.  VERY important point to take note of….when you request a friendship, write something personal which will only increase your chances of them wanting to connect with you.

You will also want to connect with some leaders and get to know them or read their material.  You will come to find that there are several very good leaders, leaders with integrity who are truly trying to share what they know.  They are giving so much value and always over delivering on the content that they provide on their wall or in their groups.

Some leaders will of course attempt to direct you towards their company because that is all they know.  Some will recognize that there are many great opportunities and share those ideas with you.  And yet still, some will simply share generic business building ideas because they truly enjoy helping others.

So, how do you request a friendship?  You could try the following approach:

Hey Joe, I bring greetings from the East coast of Canada.  I see we have some mutual friends and we both have a common interest in Health and Wellness.  I look forward to connecting.

From the above example, you have made it personal and they are most likely to accept your request.  You can only have a maximum of 5000 friends but believe me, it won’t take long once you begin using Facebook.  I would say 15-18 months and you will have some huge numbers.  You will have many come looking for your friendship and you may not have to go looking yourself.

Next thing is when someone requests your friendship, research their profile and then find some common ground.  Once you have done this, you can accept and send them a personal note or more importantly, you can write on their wall.  This will give you some more exposure and their friends might be inclined to add you as a friend.

On a daily basis is see only 1 of 10 requests where someone actually took the time to write something personal or at least express an interest truly connecting.  That is what will separate you from others, taking the time to really attempt to look for like-minded people.

Next time, I will discuss with you the value and importance of creating “notes” on Facebook and explain how powerful it can be.

How Does One Properly Use Social Sites?

Part-Time Versus Full-Time Entrepreneur Part 7

How Does One Properly Use Social Sites?

In my last instalment of the “part-time versus full-time entrepreneur” series we looked at the use of “forums” to get some exposure and educate oneself on the ins and outs of your niche or industry.

Today we are going to look at how to properly use Social Sites to build your list and have others interested in what you have to offer.

There are so many great social sites that enable you to build a profile and illustrate to others what skills and attributes you have that so many might be desperately looking for.   The top two sites I want to discuss are Facebook and Twitter.  I will have to document this in several articles as there is simply far too much to discuss in one article

Let’s take a closer look at Facebook.   Facebook was created a few years ago and has grown to well over 250 million users.

Teens use it to connect with friends.  The middle aged adult use it to connect with old high school classmates and more and more we are seeing Entrepreneurs and those in all forms of business use it as platform to share their goods and services.

Gone are the days of advertising on TV.  Think about it…..250 million possible viewers for a small advertising fee!

So let’s get started….the first and most important step when beginning your Facebook journey or if you are already using it is to be certain that you have a professional looking picture of yourself.

It could be a casual shot, a family shot or a headshot.  Remember a picture is worth a thousand words and you don’t get a second chance.  Sounds superficial but I am certain that there are those who will get rejected simply as a result of either no picture or one that has no taste.

You also want to be working on beefing up your profile.  Fill it with as much content so that people get a true sense as to who you are when they have finished reading your biography.  If you have a personal website or blog to send them to for further information, then post those links as well.

One more thing before I call it a day is your status update.  On Facebook, like most social sites, you can put up your current status…..Having my morning coffee…..taking the kids to school….off to the rat race…I think you get the idea.  What you don’t want to do is use this platform as a means to “spam” whatever product or service you have to offer.  There are people who put up status updates such as:  come and listen in on tonight’s amazing webinar on the yet to be launched super duper magic berry juice.  It is only grown on one island and we have the exclusive rights to the plant and no one else can get their hands on it.  Begin building your list of 100, invite all your friends and anyone who knows your name and lock in your legacy position…..blah, blah, blah.  I think you get my drift yet so many people still do this but not to this extreme.  I am just trying to drive home a point.

You want to put up thoughts of the day or a “feel-good” idea.  Perhaps you are heading out for a couple of days on a mini-vacation and it is more informative than anything else.  I would highly encourage you to stay away from the “spam” like status or else you will instantly lose your credibility.

Stay tuned for my next instalment where we will take a closer look at adding/inviting friends and accepting friendship requests.

Cheers………..Steve

The “How To” Of Article Writing….

Wednesday, September 9th, 2009

Part-Time Versus Full-Time Entrepreneur Part 5

How Does One Write An Article?

In my last article in this series, I gave some great tips on the use of keywords and how you could research them for FREE.  Remember how you can use Youtube to check out “tags”?  Well, if you have since forgotten, simply go back to my blog which is listed below to read it over again.

Today, I want to give you some ideas on how you can write an article.  When writing an article, much like any essay, you must have an introduction.  Tell the reader what they are going to read, then they read it and finally you summarize by telling them what they just read.  Sounds simple enough you say….

However, you also want to have a title that catches the readers’ attention and makes them want to stop what they are doing and read it.  Now looking at my title, “How Does One Write An Article” certainly does not have a wow factor if you will, it merely is a “how to” topic.

In most cases they will attract the clientele you are looking for.  You are looking for someone who doesn’t understand a given topic and you are going to tell them how to do it.

In your introduction as well as your title you want to have your keywords appear at least once.  Then your body of your article should have it another 5-6 times but you don’t want to have it look unnatural.  So, if I were to write How Does One Write An Article for no apparent reason, then those who proof read the article are going to question your intentions.

Bottom line, you want it to read well, have flow and seem genuine.  It must also be your word and opinion, not that of another writer or you will not get ranked as high on search engines because it will be seen and labelled as duplicate content.

Lastly, my advice is post it to authority websites.  For example, Ezine Articles is an authority website and so too are places like hubpages.com and squidoo.com.  In other words, the search engines value the recommendation or input from such sites.

So my game plan if you will, is post it first and foremost to my blog.  My blog is my personal real-estate on the internet.  Secondly, I will submit it to Ezine Articles which is very well respected and an authority site in the eyes of Google.   I then would create a Hubpage and finally post it to some social sites such as Twitter and Facebook.   I would caution the use of software that may post it to multiple sites with the click of a button.  Some see value in it but the jury is still out on this technique.   Do you want duplicate content plastered all over the place or do you want traffic to come to a central location that you can call your own?  I will let you decide for yourself.  Until next time,

Cheers

Steve
