The “How To” Of Article Writing….

Part-Time Versus Full-Time Entrepreneur Part 5

How Does One Write An Article?

In my last article in this series, I gave some great tips on the use of keywords and how you could research them for FREE.  Remember how you can use Youtube to check out “tags”?  Well, if you have since forgotten, simply go back to my blog which is listed below to read it over again.

Today, I want to give you some ideas on how you can write an article.  When writing an article, much like any essay, you must have an introduction.  Tell the reader what they are going to read, then they read it and finally you summarize by telling them what they just read.  Sounds simple enough you say….

However, you also want to have a title that catches the readers’ attention and makes them want to stop what they are doing and read it.  Now looking at my title, “How Does One Write An Article” certainly does not have a wow factor if you will, it merely is a “how to” topic.

In most cases they will attract the clientele you are looking for.  You are looking for someone who doesn’t understand a given topic and you are going to tell them how to do it.

In your introduction as well as your title you want to have your keywords appear at least once.  Then your body of your article should have it another 5-6 times but you don’t want to have it look unnatural.  So, if I were to write How Does One Write An Article for no apparent reason, then those who proof read the article are going to question your intentions.

Bottom line, you want it to read well, have flow and seem genuine.  It must also be your word and opinion, not that of another writer or you will not get ranked as high on search engines because it will be seen and labelled as duplicate content.

Lastly, my advice is post it to authority websites.  For example, Ezine Articles is an authority website and so too are places like hubpages.com and squidoo.com.  In other words, the search engines value the recommendation or input from such sites.

So my game plan if you will, is post it first and foremost to my blog.  My blog is my personal real-estate on the internet.  Secondly, I will submit it to Ezine Articles which is very well respected and an authority site in the eyes of Google.   I then would create a Hubpage and finally post it to some social sites such as Twitter and Facebook.   I would caution the use of software that may post it to multiple sites with the click of a button.  Some see value in it but the jury is still out on this technique.   Do you want duplicate content plastered all over the place or do you want traffic to come to a central location that you can call your own?  I will let you decide for yourself.  Until next time,

Cheers

Part-Time Versus Full-Time Entrepreneur Part 4

Article Writing…A Free Way To Get Traffic!

I trust you are enjoying the content up to this point and let’s not waste any time… In today’s lesson, I want to share with you the art and science of article writing.

Before we get started, let’s quickly review.  The first 3 topics in this series included finding a mentor or coach, goal setting and budgeting respectively.  If you missed one or all of these articles, you can visit the “Business Reviews / Models” category, but Don’t go there now!  I have important information to share with you first and foremost.

Article writing is something that likely scares a few of you.  Well, don’t let it because if you let your fear get the best of you, you will never grow.  I can remember my first article….boy I had no idea what I was doing!

I took some of the strategies I had learned and put them into practice.  Believe it or not, it is in my top 5 most viewed articles and that was over 18 months ago.

I still can’t believe it but you know what?  I just simply did it.  That is the big lesson you need to learn today.  The other stuff I am about to share is the mechanics and strategies which are very important but not as important as just doing it!

Alright, enough about that….  Article writing must and I mean must revolve around key words.  Uh…what does that mean you ask?

Well, Google not to mention other search engines perform task according to the “key words” that you enter in the search box.  Make sense?  I am sure it does.

So, when you put in your “key words”, the engine will search all content that is relevant to that term.  This means you want your article to be key word rich so that when someone searches those key words, you come across as relevant to the search engines and ultimately get ranked on the first page of results.

There are a couple of techniques that you can use.  You can purchase software that performs this work for you and I am not going to recommend any one in particular.  Just go do an internet search and there will be plenty of results.

Or you can do what I will do sometimes is go and use youtube….  Youtube you say?  Yes, Youtube.  You are likely aware that youtube is the property of google.  As a result, it relies heavily on keywords too….see where I am going with this?

Instead of paying for monthly fees for a software, you can rest assured that the big guys and gals are using keyword technology and strategies in their video content.  Having said that, go to a video that has thousands of views and look at the “tags”.  Tags are to youtube what keywords are to google.  Therefore you can research a topic on youtube, find one that has a lot of traffic, look at the tags and copy them for your article.  Free and doesn’t take a lot of time!

Wow, this is getting too long so I am going to leave it at that.   I will continue on in part 5 and actually tell you what your article should look like and set it all up

My homework for you is to take your niche, research it on youtube and look at the tags associated with the video…..easy to do but easy not to do….it is ALL up to YOU

Part-Time Versus Full-Time Entrepreneur Part 3 – Budgeting

How Can I Build When My Funds Are Limited?

In my last two articles we looked at the idea of aligning yourself with a Mentor or Accountability Coach and we explored the notion of Goal Setting.  Today I want to talk about Budgeting.

Being a part-time entrepreneur, like millions of others, you find yourself in a position with a limited budget.  You will discover that there will always be ongoing monthly fees like hosting, autoresponders, marketing system, and an autoship, just to name a few.

Some may have other expenses such as pay per click advertising, advertising in general, website maintenance and so on.  I think you get my drift…..lots of money that can and will be spent routinely.

Well, I want to simply outline for you numerous ways you can build you business on a part-time basis and use proven FREE techniques and strategies to do so.

In articles that are yet to be created, we will look at each of these techniques in greater detail and share with you what I know and understand to be true regarding each technique.

So, let’s generate a list and touch ever so briefly on each one.

Article Writing, Forums, Hubpages, Social Media (Facebook, Twitter), Squidoo Lens, Video Marketing, and Blogging just to name a few.

With Article writing, Squidoo Lenses and Hubpages you can talk about any given subject and post them to the internet.  Once your content is live and on the internet, it is there forever!  It is like fishing….the more fishing lines you have in the water, the better your chances of success.  The same goes for article writing, Squidoo and Hubpages…the more content on the internet….the more exposure.  There are some authority sites which will help you in your Google ranking but I will save that for the article on article writing…smile

Forums… well Forums when I used them on a regular basis were great places to help educate yourself on the latest trends in your niche and also to keep abreast of the latest news in your chosen industry.  It is also a great place to share and add value.  You can position yourself as a leader if you know what you are doing.

Social Media…wow, this is a biggy.  If you are not using social media then you are obviously living under a rock IN A CAVE!   This is an excellent way.   We will take a serious look at this one in an upcoming version of PT vs FT Entrepreneur.

Blogging has been around for some time as a means by which you journal what is taking place in your life.  As of late, many entrepreneurs have taken it upon themselves to put up a blog….

More to come on that in a future article.

And lastly, video marketing which is a wonderful way for others to see, hear and get a feel for who you are and what you are all about.  I will likely get a guest to discuss this topic as I am still wet behind the ears on this one!

Talk again real soon,

Cheers – Steve
